Millikan K米丽(记者部)

Medicine is a demanding profession which requires a unique commitment to put service to others first, effectively communicate and listen to patients, develop relationships, and engage in complex problem solving and life-long learning. Though the career path to a career in medicine is a long one, it is a profession that is intellectually challenging, financially secure and personally rewarding.
I have interviewed four students from our university and they were kind enough to share their opinions about our topic. Different
people have different opinions.
1 Kamleshsingh Shadhu from 2010 batch of foreign students, SIE:
Since a very young age it was my endeavour to study medicine. I want to help people who have difficulties with their health status knowing that I must be available at any time. A person will be able to work at maximum efficiency if he is in good health. Hence he can better his economy. Health is wealth. It was my desire to fight against new pathogens which are engulfing the society like HIV and flu pandemics AH1N1 virus. Besides, studying medicine will allow me to inovate to the the health sector. I will be able to make good health services available to the poor people of the society. In addition I am happy to study medicine in China as I will be exposed to western and traditional chinese medicine.
2 Yan Chang Shen from 2009 batch of ji chu yi xue yuan(基础医学院):
I want to cure more patients around me. I live in a poor countryside where many of us do not have enough money to go to hospital for treatment so I want to treat everyone there. I want to alleviate people’s pain. Thus being a doctor will give me an opportunity to help those in need whether healing physical ailments, providing medical advice or performing complex surgeries.Ibelieve doctors have the opportunity to change lives.
3 Senthur Rajendren Vanniar from 2009 batch of foreign students, SIE:
Curing people from their illness, was my one and only childhood dream, and to achieve my dream I choose medicine as my major. I want to improve quality of life. There is a satisfaction being a doctor, of feeling a completeness you get when you do something good. That adds to the challenge. I like the fact that medicine is difficult to learn and there is no end to the discoveries that are made in this field.
4 Abhinav Dubbaka from 2005 batch of foreign students, SIE:
The primary reason why I chose this profession is due to the inspiration I got from my parents.
Both my parents are doctors and due to this I was always exposed to this profession in one way or the other. Due to this exposure, I got attached to this profession and took the decision to become a doctor.I love biology and the many fascinating things about it. I want to help people and I thought being a doctor will help fulfill this dream.

Personally, since middle school I have been so enthusiastic to be in the medical field. I always wanted to be a doctor as I like helping and making people feel better. I feel that my personal mission is to help humanity to defeat diseases and overcome sufferings. Furthermore doctors are well respected in the society and earn a good living and provides for a consistent and secure future. I will also have opportunities to work in different communities.

Table Tennis Competition

                                             乒乓球大赛

汤露

The first Nanjing Medicinal University deans' table tennis competition was held in Wutai campus on the 16th in October. All the people participated in the competition were the deans from attaching hospitals of the Nanjing Medicinal University. Though the competitors were not the professional players, they also played it very well. Everyone tried his best to win the competition. The Wuxi Maternal and Child Health hospital won the first place. No matter who won the competition, the aim to hold the competitions was not to see who was the best, but to make a chance for all the attaching hospitals’ deans to communicate with each other, through this activity, the friendship among all the attaching hospitals will be harder. The competition ended perfectly, but the influence of it will exist all the time.

After Shock

                                                                         周梦兰

Directed by Feng XiaoGang, starring Zhang JingChu, Xu Fan, Li Chen, After shock, is a fantastic film using the most advanced shooting equipment and has touched me deeply. The film tells a true story about the earthquake that happened in Tangshan in 1976,which caused much death and injury and turns out to be something about disaster, emotion and morality. During the earthquake, the sister named Fangdeng , who is the later WangDeng, and her twin brother FangDa were both pressed under the same cement board. Here our story starts.

Emergency urgent ,the mother had to choose: saving the suffering son or the daughter. For

a mother ,it is really a hard decision, since either is her blood and flesh. While she was hesitating, the rescue team was going to help others, consequently , the mother chose her son, which shocked the clear-headed girl. However, what amazes us is that the litter poor girl then came back to life miraculously and was adopted by a kind couple luckily and grew up.

"Family is forever family !"Said by the father in the film ,this is the most impressive word on me .Just like the daughter and mother in the film, after as long as 32 years separation , still ,fate let them meet again ,and this time ,nothing can break up them any more. In some way ,the film mirrors a traditional Chinese woman's love for her children, selfless and moving .I believe even though the 23-second earthquake is short ,what it really shocked is not the collapsed houses ,but our spirit ,our soul. The film itself is a good history review ,meanwhile, it is of momentous educational significance.
So move and enjoy it !
